The project addresses the collective memory of Italy, its nostalgia for a past never lived, and its need to surpass it. A search for recognition that opens outward to a national image still learning to account for the Black presence.
Realised as part of a project initiated with a photographic work by Kaine Harrys.
Presented with a spoken rendition of “If They Only Knew,” and excerpts from the opening and closing of “I Am Trying to Find Myself” by Sun Ra / Sonny Blount.
